It was a busy evening in our London office, with 75 young people from The Challenge UK visiting our office for our Fall HeadStart workshop to learn more about Zendesk.
HeadStart London was created in 2014 to bring together industry leaders, charities and young people to bridge the gap between schools and work. Through HeadStart, youth aged 16-18 and still in education are rewarded for their volunteering with employability workshops. A young person only has to complete one hour of volunteering to gain access to the workshops, designed to enhance their interpersonal and employability skill. This group volunteered over 1200 hours between them, demonstrating their commitment to their community as well as their careers aspirations.
We kicked off the evening talking about Zendesk, the Neighbor Foundation and our CSR program in our London office. The students then split into five groups and visited different stations to learn about each department at Zendesk. They met marketing, support, customer experience, sales, workplace and HR. Finally, they heard from one of our employees, Saajan, about his experience at Zendesk and working with prior interns.
It was a powerful evening that left our employees inspired as well as many students eager to apply for an internship at our office for next Spring. We are excited for the Spring internship and helping motivated young people get the head start they need.
