Tour of the Tenderloin

We often get asked about our motivations for the Zendesk Neighbor Foundation. Many things have guided us over the years and shaped our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program into what it is today, but none perhaps as much as the fact that our office is located in the Tenderloin. It has guided us to take a hyper-local approach to CSR, getting involved in the community right outside our doors. While we have given back a lot of the years, we have learned so much more from our community.

Recently, Zendesk’s CEO, Mikkel Svane, gave his insights into our history and our neighborhood through a Tour of the Tenderloin, on Zendesk’s Relate blog. Svane says,

We moved to the Tenderloin in 2011, and as we grew we decided to stay here. I love this neighborhood with its turn-of-the-twentieth-century architecture, its storied past of corruption and vice, and its happening future with a booming tech and creative scene. I like being a part of the hustle and bustle of the streets and I want our team to experience it as well. This city and this neighborhood have been very good to us, and in return, we want to be good to them.
